Joan Ledoux is a cabinet member of The Pas Region, the MMF Provincial Education for our Manitoba Métis Federation the National Government of the Red River Métis.

She is the Minister of Education, Co-Minister responsible for the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Strategy Agreement (ISETS) and Chair of the Louis Riel Institute (LRI).

This is Joan's third term on the MMF Cabinet. Prior to being elected, she served on numerous boards within the MMF, including 15 years as Chairperson for the Flin Flon Local, the Local Management Board of The Pas Region and Chair of the Flin Flon Indian & Métis Friendship Centre as well as Chair of the Provincial Management Board.

Born in Winnipegosis but having grown up in Camperville and graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Education, helping her find employment with the Federal and Provincial Government for the past 26 years. Joan retired from Manitoba Hydro in 2012 and dedicates all her time working for the Metis Government.

Joan believes that Métis Citizens have always played a pivotal role within their families and communities, giving lived experiences and insights into priority areas such as education, employment and many more.

Joan's goal is to serve and be accountable to the Métis people - She is a proud and passionate Métis woman. For the past ten years, Joan has been writing bits and pieces of her memoire which she plans to dedicate to her children and family. She will continue to use the opportunities given to her to showcase her Métis Culture & History and work towards the vision of the Métis Nation.

Joan has a broadened understanding of what reconciliation means to the Métis people and the future of Canada, as we continue to build our leadership, partnerships and relationships as we move forward Nation to Nation.
